Slovakia is the other part of the former Czechoslovakia which separated from the union. We were told this is the poorer part. Comparing buildings in Prague and Bratislava this has probably been true in the past but we learned from a fellow who had a beer with us that it now has a thriving Auto industry with many big name companies making parts and building cars here and we certainly got the sense of local enthusiasm and of a country going places.
The castle is very old despite its modern appearance.

Where we met the guy who gave us the lowdown on Slovakia. He said he was an Auditor who came from South Africa on a contract for two years and stayed for 17!
