We stayed for a night at a B & B at this place, pronounced ganna-knock-way, which is about halfway to Toronto from Montreal in a very picturesque area known as ONE THOUSAND ISLANDS.
Not sure if this is where the salad dressing was invented but we bought some anyway.
A former windmill which was the scene of a battle in 1838 when 190 insurgents from the USA crossed the St Lawrence River in the hope of rallying disaffected local people against the British.
It didn’t work. 60 of them were transported to Australia!
The tourist season hadn’t started yet but the Parks man let us in to look around.
