Iona in Royal National Lifeboat gear ready for an exercise involving a helicopter.

The purpose of the exercise is to give life boat crew experience of working under the rotor blades which make it difficult to control the boat.
Apparently it costs around 10,000 pounds every time the helicopter is called out. All this money comes from public donations. There is no help from government.
