JOSSELIN

A journey to Josselin, about 60km from Guemene, is always worth it just for this view of the Chateau beside the Nante - Brest canal.

The Bretons love dressing up their bridges and roundabouts with floral displays.

Cathy and Gail outside the sandwich shop we were about to for lunch. Fresh baguette cut down the middle with filling of your choice - yum!

Roses grow so well here.

Quaint part of town with Cathedral basilica (tower) in the background.

If you are allowed to you have to go up a tower, don't you?! 138 steps up a spiral staircase later and this is the view overlooking the Chateau.

The final bit.

An enormous bell near the top. You have to admire the mediaeval architects and builders for undertaking a project like this.

One of the reasons for going to Josselin was because they were holding a vide grenier (meaning attic sale). As usual it is mostly junk but there are bargains to be found.

This is a species of giant rhubarb. Amazing plant.

Back in Guemene we are too late to take photos of the big top for the circus Zavatta. The last show started at 3pm and by 6pm they had dismantled the whole lot. I hope they had a good audience as they worked very hard promoting the show. I'm not really a fan of circuses.

They don't appear to be down at heal like the last lot!

THE BLOG

A curious event has just occurred. I responded to an article on Facebook put out by Rebeccas cousin in the USA, Mark Anderson. It was to do with the mass shooting in Orlando Florida. I said: What's the point of a President if he can't say enough is enough and ban guns. Mark set me straight saying "Only congress can do that". A bit more was said but that was the gist of it.

I checked on my blog site a little while later and found I had received 150 hits from the USA and three from Russia!! I can only account for about 10 in the USA and none in Russia. I wonder who the BIG brothers are tuning in!
